# Group formation

Candidate master nodes that are not currently participating in validation round, can nominate themselves for the next round participation.

### Group formation process general flow

Before the group formation, a group size $$t$$ is known.

1\. Candidates nominate themselves for the round $$\sigma$$.

2\. Nominees form round $$\sigma$$ nominee nodes set $$S\_\sigma$$ with the amount of nominee nodes $$n$$.

3\. Nominees’ average validation stake amount $$A\_{avg}$$ , where $$a\_i, i: {1,2,\cdots, n}$$ represents nominee’ validation stake amount, is calculated as follows:\
$$A\_{avg} = \dfrac {\displaystyle\sum\_{i=1}^n a\_i}{n}$$

4\. Group amount $$g$$ is calculated based on $$n$$ and $$t$$ as follows:

$$g = n \operatorname{div} t$$

5\. Nominees are distributed into $$g$$ groups based on Common (Shared) coin algorithm starting from the heaviest stakers ($$a\_i \to max$$) in such a way that group average validator stake $$A\_g \to A\_{avg}$$.

6\. Grouping info is added to the data block $$b$$ to ensure integrity and validity of the group formation data and process.

7\. Nominees wait for the block $$b$$ to finalize.

8\. Nominees that don’t belong to any group $$g\_j$$ are set free from current group formation process round thus can nominate for the round $$\sigma +1$$.
