# Master node governance stake

Each master node has to provide a governance stake to participate in Covenant system governance.

Master node has to stake a (sufficient) amount of funds to increase economical consequences (slashing) for node' proven misbehaviour.

Governance stake is an amount of integrated network' assets (BTC, etc.) that is subject to slashing for master node' proven misbehaviour. 

Governance stake has a cooldown period (number of blocks) until which it is bounded before released back.
