# Bridgeless stateful transfers

Covenant system doesn't use traditional bridge mechanics due to their imperfect off-chain parts and often centralized mechanics that pose security and custody risks.

Instead, Covenant system utilizes distributed chain-agnostic bridgeless connector mechanics for each integrated network.

### How chain-agnostic bridgeless connector works?

To provide bridgeless self-custody transfers, Covenant system builds integrated network block tree based on finalized blocks of the integrated network.

To provide data for the block tree, Covenant publicly provides augmented master nodes - nodes that contain both Covenant system logic and integrated network node with enough functionality to be able to provide valid integrated network' block data.

Anyone can setup the augmented node, take part in verifying the block tree state in a distributed manner and get rewards in native assets (native BTC, etc.) for securing the Covenant system activity (or get slashed for proven misbehaviour).
